Q9: How are Japanese judges selected ?

Japanese judges are "career judges" and they normally join the court immediately after completing legal training. Public prosecutors are recruited in the same way. Judges, prosecutors and attorneys (bengoshi, lawyers) spend some time in the same training institution after they have passed the national bar examination.
