Litigation in Japan
Q13: How long does it take to obtain the judgment or the court order in Japan?

The first instance of a civil litigation in Japan normally takes six to twelve months to complete at the District Court.
However, if the case is a complex one with a variety of issues and evidence, it tends to take much longer.
If the case is a simple one, the court may recommend quick settlement.
