Japanese Labor Law
Q2: Are there any exceptions regarding the notice requirement for termination of employment?

Yes.
If the continuance of the business is impossible due to a natural disaster or other unavoidable reasons, the notice is not required.

If he or she is terminated of her employment due to his/her attributable actions or if it happens during his or her probationary period and within 14 days from the start of employment.

Of course, giving notice is not enough to terminate the employment contract in a legal manner, as there need to be reasonable grounds to terminate the employment without agreement from the employee. Please refer to the further Q&A.
